In Bikes, Honda Motorcycles, International Bike News / / 18 May 2021 614 pm / 2 comments First introduced in 2018, the Honda Cross Cub gets another model in the lineup, the limited edition 2021 Honda Cross Cub 110. Still retaining the “adventure” styling of the Cross Cub, the Cross Cub 110 goes on sale July 22, with only 2,000 units available for the Japanese domestic market. Coming in a unique Puco Blue paint scheme, the Cross Cub 110 uses black as a contrast, including the wheel rims, seat, absorber springs, handlebars and rear rack. Meanwhile, the engine and fork legs are painted silver, with a chrome exhaust guard styled like the units on scramblers in the 1970s. A crash guard painted in the body colour adorns the separate headlight with a close clearance front fender, also in the same colour. Available only as a single-seater, the Cross Cub 110 comes with no other accessories. Mechanically the same as the standard model Cross Cub, the Cross Cub 110 is powered by a 109 cc, single-cylinder, OHC engine fed by fuel injection. Power is claimed to be ps at 7,500 rpm with Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm and power gets to the ground via a four-speed rotary gearbox. With 17-inch wheels, the Cross Cub 110 is fitted with tyres that come with a “block” pattern, reminiscent of those fitted to adventure-touring rigs. Suspension is done with twin shock absorbers at the back and telescopic forks in front with fuel carried in a tank, while all up weight is 108 kg. Coming with diverse and extensive experience in heavy engineering, Mohan enjoys making anything with wheels go fast, especially motorcycles. His weapon of choice is the Desmoquattro engine, and he has a penchant for anything with a dash of Italian design. Strangely enough, he insists he's a slow rider. AT LAST October’s Tokyo Motor Show Honda revealed a planned for future production’ prototype for the Cross Cub 110. Now it’s putting it on sale in Japan along with a smaller 50cc version. Both bikes are full revamps on the previous Japanese-market Cross Cub. Like their predecessors they’re based on the Super Cub scooter – itself revamped for 2018 – but with a rugged, off-road-inspired edge. It’s a strange combination, but the Cross Cub actually manages to build upon the simple, utilitarian appeal of the Super Cub. It ditches its parent bike’s trademark leg fairings, valanced front mudguard and bar-mounted headlight in favour of a stripped-down look. The new, low-mounted LED headlight is protected with a simple steel cage, the front mudguard is as basic as it could be and, on the 110cc version, the 17-inch wheels are fitted with semi-knobbly 50cc version looks near-identical, but its rugged looks are aimed at the rough-and-tumble of city life rather than having any off-road aspirations. The wheels are smaller 14-inchers, clad in road-only rubber, makes for lower gearing and nimbler low-speed turning. The perfect pizza-delivery bike?As with the new Super Cub 110 and 50, there’s no sign of these versions being sold in Europe, but Honda is understood to be bringing back the Cub to these shores. It showed a Euro4-legal Super Cub 125 as a concept’ last year, along with its 125cc Monkey bike concept, and both are believed to have a strong chance of production. Should the Super Cub 125, with its disc brakes and cleaner, more powerful engine go on sale over here, it wouldn’t be a huge leap for Honda to strip it back to create a Cross Cub variant as well. Do you like Honda’s new CT125 but it has too much horsepower for you? The new 2022 Grom not your style? You need to slow yourself down a little? Check out this Cross Cub 110! But if the 110 is still a lot to handle, you have the Cross Cub 50 below too haha! Honda first introduced the Cross Cub 110 motorcycle / mini bike at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show and then it hit the production line overseas in 2018. They made a couple of slight changes to it in 2020 and here we are for 2021 with Honda mixing it up a little bit. You have this new Puco Blue color above on the 2021 Cross Cub 110 and it’s limited to only 2,000 units! Surprisingly the price stays the same whether you go for one of the standard color options or the limited run color. How much does the 2021 Cross Cub 110 cost? Only 341,000 yen! Now, you can’t do a straight conversion on bikes like this and it be accurate to what it would actually sell for in the USA but for giggles – let’s do it anyways. If you convert 341,000 yen to USD then that would put you around $3,100. For example, the 2021 Honda CT125 has an MSRP of $3,899. Can you buy the 2021 Honda Cross Cub 110 in the USA? Sadly, nope. Does Honda plan to release the Cross Cub 110 in the USA for their 2022 motorcycle model lineup? I can’t say with 100% certainty at the moment but I’m sure we will not be seeing the Honda Cross Cub in the USA for 2022. What do you guys think about the Cross Cub 110 compared to the CT125? Which would you pick if the Cross Cub was sold here in the USA? Here’s the even smaller, Cross Cub 50 motorcycle How do you explain the Cross Cub 110? Here’s Honda’s official description The CROSS CUB 110 pursues a leg shield-less active style with the “Cross Over Cub Styling” theme. The styling emphasizes a tougher, more leisure-oriented image, with an LED headlight and specially-designed headlight guard, steel front fender, front and rear black rims, and fatter tires with a deeper tread pattern. The handlebars have also been reshaped for a more upright riding posture that allows for better visibility, while the unique seat cushion is thicker for greater comfort over long distances. With bold crossover styling that looks as good in town as off-road, and the ability to accommodate two riders, the Cross Cub makes an exciting new addition to the Cub lineup. In its 2021 iteration, the Cross Cub 110 gets a limited-edition Puko Blue paint scheme Honda has showcased the 2021 Cross Cub, an off-road focused iteration of the Super Cub, in a special Puko Blue paint scheme that’ll be limited to 2,000 units when it goes on sale on July 22 in Japan this year. First revealed at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, the Cross Cub 110 was launched overseas in 2018. Since then, it hasn’t undergone any significant updates, save for a revised taillight in 2020 to comply with Japan’s revised traffic regulations. Besides, the usual Camouflage Green, Pearl Shining Yellow, and Classical White colours will continue as before. A Brief History As mentioned, the Cross Cub 110 traces its lineage to the Super Cub, Honda’s second scooter, which was launched in 1958 with a 50cc four-stroke engine. Subsequent iterations of the Super Cub went on to dominate sales charts the world over, with over a 100 million ten crore! units sold as of 2017. Do you recall the tune You meet the nicest people on a Honda’ by the Hondells? Well, the nice people were all astride Super Cubs! Suzuki Burgman Electric What To Expect From The Brand’s First E-scooter? Honda Dio Launched In The Philippines, Returns Mileage Of Almost 60kmpl Honda NX200 India Launch What To Expect From The Hornet ADV The Lowdown Despite a 63-year gap, the overall silhouette of the 2021 Cross Cub still resembles that of the 1958 Supercub, with elements such as the large-diameter wire-spoke wheels, frame-mounted headlight albeit an LED unit, single seat with a luggage rack at the back, and slotted heat shield covering the exhaust pipe. The instrument cluster, too, is delightfully basic, with just a speedo and a fuel gauge. That said, the Cross Cub 110 eschews the front apron, and the longer-travel suspension and block-pattern tyres give it the requisite trail-ready credo. The Cross Cub 110 is powered by an air-cooled, fuel-injected, 109cc single cylinder engine mated to a four-speed clutchless gearbox. The motor makes approximately 8PS and competent figures considering the Cross Cub 110’s 106kg kerb weight. Worth Waiting? Umm, no. Simply put, off-roading still isn’t as widely adopted in India as it is overseas, with the idea of an off-road moped an even more alien concept. And then there’s the small matter of cost. In India, the Honda Cross Cub 110 would go up against an entry-level step-through like the TVS XL100. However, the Cross Cub 110 retails for the equivalent of around Rs lakh excluding taxes in Japan, which is closer to the sticker price of TVS’ flagship supersport, the Apache RR310! Besides, Indian consumers regard mopeds as utilitarian, budget-friendly modes of transport, so a lifestyle-oriented moped with premium pricing makes very little sense. Hence, despite Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India’s portfolio replete with small-capacity offerings, chances of the Cross Cub 110 getting to our shores are miniscule.
